“The average household in Ireland uses 125,000 litres of treated drinking water per year and we flush one third of all that treated water down the toilet.”

  • It saves water
  • Its a waste not to use the waste
  • It’s good for the fish and river health

High levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus in our waterways leads to dangerous Algal blooms and these kill ecosystems, including our fish.

Urine is liquid gold, because it is rich in Nitrogen and Phosphorous, vital nutrients for helping plants and trees grow. While agro-industrial companies are busy mining and manufactoring these nutrients to make fertilizers, we humans are throwing them away every time we flush. It’s ecological insanity!

The Rich Earth Institute has found that pasteurised and diluted Urine is safe to use and just as effective as synthetic NPK fertiliser when applied to grass, trees and vegetable crops. This is because pee is naturally full of Nitrogen and Phosphorus which plants need to grow well.

What do we do with poop?

Poop is less useful than Urine, but nonetheless it’s good for the soil. After a 10 month period of composting inside a loosly closed container each pile is chemically transfomed by the microbiom into a safe compost to use on flower beds and trees.

In Aerobic Thermophilic composting moisture content must be kept at 50%, Carbon rich material must be well mixed into the waste and the pile needs Oxygen.

So, no more flushing sewage, its time for Flushing Meadows!
